Ferdinand é um touro com um temperamento calmo e tranquilo, que prefere sentar-se embaixo de uma árvore e relaxar ao invés de correr por aí bufando e batendo cabeça com outros touros. A medida que vai crescendo, ele se torna um touro forte e grande, mas com o mesmo pensamento. Quando cinco homens vão até sua fazenda para escolher o maior, melhor e mais forte animal para touradas em Madri, Ferdinand é escolhido acidentalmente.

As Ferdinand grows big and strong, his temperament remains mellow, but one day five men come to choose the “biggest, fastest, roughest bull” for the bullfights in Madrid and Ferdinand is mistakenly chosen.
